After living in New York City for over 35 years, and now also residing in her hometown of Detroit since 2021, Lisa Applebaum’s leadership and philanthropic commitment is to bridge her experience in the New York arts and cultural platform with promoting the arts and emerging artists in metropolitan Detroit.
With a commitment to collaboration and partnerships in the arts, Lisa is an advisor, advocate, and connector among many of Detroit’s organizations, supporters, and artists.
Lisa is specifically devoted to several arts and community organizations serving as an Executive Board Member with the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, Board Member of Detroit Opera, Board Member with ProjectArt Detroit, member of the University of Michigan Museum of Art Acquisition Committee, and Board Member of Higher Hopes. Lisa is also on the National Committee of the American Friends of the Israel Museum.
As Co-President of Applebaum Family Philanthropy, Lisa is heading the Applebaum Fellows programs focusing on the arts in Detroit and is an Emeritus member of the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Dean’s Advisory Council at Wayne State University.
A passionate art collector, Lisa focuses on contemporary art in all media, with a particular emphasis on emerging artists.
